I often get asked, what the best by date actually means for Jams, Jellies and Conserves and so on? It is really just that, it tastes better because it is fresher. Maybe the fruit tastes more fruity or fresh! But what it doesn’t mean is expired. First of all sugar is a wonderful preservative. Secondly, Producers are obligated to put that on their packaging. Most products last well beyond best by dates. That is different than use before date.
